In one of the classics of new medicine, Reinventing Medicine: Beyond Mind-body to a New Era of Healing, physician Larry Dossey addresses one practical application of what he calls nonlocal or Era III medicine: "Recently modern scientists have discovered that nonlocal events, meaning events that don't happen where they're initiated necessarily, are not fantasy but are part of the fabric of the universe." Citing well-known physicist Nick Herbert, Dossey enumerates three primary characteristics of nonlocal events. Nonlocal events, he says, are:

1) unmediated, meaning you do not necessarily need a transmission field for a nonlocal event to occur, that it occurs even in the absence of an identifiable field;
2) unmitigated, meaning their strength does not fall off through time or distance; and
3) immediate, sometimes even anachronistic, meaning they can happen before they happen.

On numerous occasions over the past five years performing the Regenetics Method remotely for hundreds of clients living all over the globe, my partner Leigh and I have received feedback indicating that a substantial percentage of these individuals begin to feel their sessions happening before the actual session. Time and space seem irrelevant with DNA activation, which is what one would expect working with subspace "torsion" energy scientifically shown by N. A. Kozyrev and others to be capable of moving faster than observable light.

Here, research conducted by biophysicist Peter Gariaev's team in Russia provides a plausible explanation. The Gariaev group found that DNA can cause "disturbance patterns" in space, generating small electromagnetic "wormholes" of a subquantum nature. These microscopic DNA-activated wormholes, similar in their ability to bend light to the nonlocal energy signatures found in the vicinity of "black holes," including Galactic Center, are connections between different areas in the multiverse through which data (such as sound and light codes designed to assist human evolution) can be transmitted outside the space-time continuum. Remote healing, for example, is thus reasonably explained as an ener-genetic phenomenon.

Early in 2003, after much research, Leigh and I formulated our ideas and performed the first DNA activation of the Regenetics Method, Potentiation Electromagnetic Repatterning, on ourselves while living in South America. Initially, to be perfectly honest, I did not experience any significant shifts. But after a few weeks, I realized I was beginning to crave foods--starches mostly, carbohydrates--I had been unable to eat for years because of severe allergies.

Leigh theorized I was craving starches again because my body--which had been severely compromised by vaccines, heavy metals, parasites, and other factors--was starting to cleanse and was asking for foods to help bind toxicity from my cells and escort it out of my system without further damaging my tissues. She suggested that I try some of the foods I had been craving such as pasta, bread, rice, and potatoes. So I began eating them, timidly at first but with increasing gusto as it became obvious they were no longer overrunning me with Candida or causing unbearable bloating.

If Potentiation had stopped there, we both knew we had been given an extraordinary gift. In going on a decade of dedicated searching, nothing else had been able to restore my ability to enjoy the full range of foods. But Potentiation did not stop there. I began getting back greater and greater levels of vitality and was able to start exercising again. Within six months, I returned to swimming a mile without stopping. I had been unable to perform anywhere close to this for years. Today, I can swim two miles at full speed, which is more than I could do in my twenties before the onset of my mysterious illness that had affinities to chronic fatigue (CFIDS), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), and fibromyalgia.

My body was recovering its inherent wisdom, that had been undermined, and was beginning to harmonize with the natural environment again. The experience reminded me of a story from Greek mythology about a giant named Antaeus who wrestles Hercules. Antaeus derived his great strength from his connection with Earth. Every time Hercules tried to pin him, Antaeus would simply touch the ground and grow exponentially stronger. Finally, when he was almost spent, Hercules realized the only way to defeat Antaeus was to lift him off the ground where he could no longer draw strength from Earth. This was how Hercules strangled and killed Antaeus.

A month after Potentiation, for the first time in nearly eight years, I felt as if Hercules had finally set me back on the ground. I knew intuitively, as well as experientially, that I was again drawing strength from food, water, and sunlight. Something altogether profound was happening in me. Leigh also underwent an "ener-genetic" transformation with many tangible results that, to our amazement, included the partial straightening of her lifelong scoliosis that not even a back brace, regular chiropractic treatments and intensive Rolfing had been able to modify.

We wanted to share Potentiation with family and friends, but were still living on another continent. One of my mentors suggested we could do this work at a distance using the elements we were already using: sound and intention--or radio and light waves. This struck me as very much in line with Dossey's notions of Era III medicine and nonlocalized mind.

We began to explore the possibility of performing Potentiation at a distance. One technique we looked to for ideas was radionics. Radionics is a type of energy medicine that has historically been performed remotely. There is some very substantial proof of the radionic connection between practitioner and patient in something called "radionic photography." This is where film that is never actually put in a camera, but is only exposed to the thoughts (light waves) of the radionics practitioner, is then developed without applying light to the film. Radionic photography is a concrete example that thought or intention is a form or function of higher-dimensional torsion waves manifesting as light.

The matriarch of radionics, a chiropractor named Ruth Drown, created photographs of people at a distance by simply connecting with them mentally. She produced some uncanny images. In one she captured a fetus inside the womb of a patient who lived miles away. The shape of the fetus is clearly recognizable and the anatomy of the mother perfectly correct. Drown made other radionic photographs that were "taken" during surgeries happening sometimes hundreds of miles away that distinctly show surgical tools entering recognizable organs. These amazing images have been published in Dr. David Tansley's Radionics: Interface with the Ether Fields.

Also a radionics practitioner, Tansley explains such remote energy transmission in terms of the "psi-field," described as a matrix in space filled with triangular energy vortices that allow for transmission and reception of intention or thought (torsion) energy between distant places. This takes us back to spiral standing waves of torsion energy that transcend time and space and is very much in keeping with the holographic model of reality--including the "bioholographic" notion that the human body, down to and actually owing to its very DNA, is simply waves of conscious energy moving in concert. Similarly, Gariaev's research in the various healing applications of "wave-genetics," which are often performed remotely, strongly supports the idea that DNA constitutes a biological "network" comparable to the Internet that, being present anywhere, is simultaneously present everywhere--effectively doing away with distance.

Biologist Rupert Sheldrake's Morphic Resonance theory posits a similar transpersonal "morphogenetic" network. Sheldrake's concept of "formative causation" emphasizes the existence of "morphic fields" that unite entire species universally outside space-time. According to Sheldrake, these omnipresent resonance fields can actually be expressed biologically if correctly tuned into--for example, through DNA--even if a species is extinct.

Some readers may also be familiar with the somewhat more esoteric notion of "noosphere," the name given by the great Jesuit philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to the field of mind and thought that encircles the planet and enables zeitgeist to happen: spontaneous transfer of ideas and technologies that suddenly seem to leap from consciousness to consciousness. Lynne McTaggart's popular book The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force in the Universe provides yet another take on this nonlocal unifying fabric.

The final piece in the development of Potentiation Electromagnetic Repatterning fell into place when we were led to study the healing techniques of indigenous Hawaiian shamans known as Kahunas, who can miraculously heal people, often at a distance, using intoning. We learned that Kahunas, in order to transmit healing sounds to an ill person by proxy, use Earth's ley lines, which they call "aka threads"--a comprehensive network of sensitive "fiber-optic" graphite veins that seem almost designed to communicate between carbon-based life forms across distances.

In essence, Kahunas transmit sound through Earth while "triangulating" on the ill person with the light of their intention. This balanced use of sound and intention almost certainly activates a self-healing potential in the individual's DNA, much in the manner of South American shamans as described by anthropologist Jeremy Narby in The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge, even though distance intervenes. While Leigh and I have come to recognize that Regenetics activations "travel" via the "information superhighway" of DNA, these concepts involving psi-fields and aka threads were very informative and inspirational.

Before returning from South America to the United States, we had the opportunity to test our theories about distance DNA activation and electromagnetic repatterning with approximately thirty people living mostly in the United States. From that group we compiled our first list of fourteen testimonials that went for several pages. These testimonials included one spontaneous remission of a chronic rash; several cases of food allergies dramatically improving or disappearing; a shared sense of greater vitality; two reports of insomnia going away; and significant positive shifts in depression and fatigue.

Since then, while continuing to offer Potentiation, we have integrated two additional DNA activations--Articulation Bioenergy Enhancement and Elucidation Triune Activation--that round out the Regenetics Method. The results have been phenomenal, often surpassing our wildest expectations. This is especially the case when we receive enthusiastic feedback from clients living in different parts of the world whom we have never even met, as we regularly do.

You can probably imagine that Regenetics could be a challenging concept for many people today, that it might initially strike the more empirically minded as absurd. But like any revolutionary truth whose time has come, we believe that in the very near future the Regenetics Method, and similarly profound modalities based on emerging scientific principles supported by indisputable evidence, will be gradually acknowledged then universally accepted.

DNA-related Definition of the Month

Nonlocality: term employed by physicists to describe Newtonian logic-defying interactions between subatomic particles that take place at a distance.

There is a new trend these days, a positive one in the direction of wholeness, toward becoming more heart-centered. Begging the question, What is meant by "heart-centeredness"?

Actually, the term "heart-centered" may be a bit misleading, as it might indicate a move from the head to the heart. I prefer, instead, to look at this phenomenon as opening up the heart, and to call it "heart-openness." (As we shall soon find out, current scientific research shows that we may already be more heart-centered than we know.)

As a believer in wholism and being whole, I feel that we are healthier and more whole when we develop and use more of our faculties and abilities. In the present context, this means that we want to use our heads and hearts (as well as our guts, intuition, etc.)--and have them all work together in a seamless whole. In order to become more heart-centered, we don't want to stop thinking! We just want to open up our feeling center more and feel while we think and think while we feel. We may not need open-heart surgery, as much as we may need heart-opening surgery!

The move toward heart-centeredness in Western industrialized societies is truly a step toward wholeness. Yet it is not just Western societies that are starting to inch toward wholeness: interestingly, there is also a move in less industrialized, "third-world" societies (that have traditionally been more heart-centered) toward further developing their rational, head-oriented faculties (technical, analytical, etc.)--thus embracing their wholeness.

So, why aren't we in the West already "heart-open"?

The Age of Reason propelled our Western society increasingly into our heads, and our contemporary materialistic focus has served to cement us there. As we have become more "rational," we have tended to discount and dismiss the "non-rational" (i.e., heart-centered) faculties as beneath us or as lesser attributes not to be relied upon. The rational, empirical and pragmatic alone are to be trusted. Interestingly, even if we tend to see ourselves as "left-brain" or "right-brain," we're still viewing ourselves as being in our heads. If we truly wished to be head-centered, we could at least be whole-brain, rather than half-brain!

Thus, our excessive rationalism has led us to disown our feelings and live in our (divided) heads. And if we do get into our feelings, we tend just to talk about them, rather than genuinely feel them. Certainly, our age of specialization has led us to be more one-dimensional, relying on only one facet of ourselves and leading us to be less than we can really be.

When we layer in on top of these factors another influence that we have seen in our society in the last thirty years--that of hiding our feelings--, it is easy to see why we are not more heart-open. There has been increasing pressure in our society not to show emotions (or "wear our hearts on our sleeves") and thus be vulnerable. We must protect ourselves by appearing "cool." This tendency has been further aided and abetted by our advertising and popular media that have encouraged us to be image-conscious. In addition, increasing urbanization and crowding, to say nothing of an escalating crime rate, have led many of us to protect ourselves by putting our emotional armor on and erecting walls between ourselves and others.

On the flip side, if we're not image-conscious or acting cool, this may indicate that we have closed down emotionally. The extreme emotional sensitivity and past pains of some of us may have led us to feel pain more easily than pleasure or happiness. Our hearts may have become figuratively scarred (because, perhaps, we're scared) and closed off. It's no wonder, then, that some of us shut our hearts, live in our heads, or fall into habits of negative thinking such cynicism or fearfulness.

Given all of the above, why should we even want to become more heart-centered? What is so special about the heart?

Physically seated in the chest, protected by the ribs, and actually fairly tough, the heart is pear-shaped and consists of four chambers. It is composed of muscle and is a little bigger than a fist. Health-wise, the heart can be affected by hypertension, clogged arteries, etc. A healthy flow in the heart is vital to its health, just as a healthy flow is desirable in our overall energy.

Figuratively, according to Webster's Unabridged Dictionary, we know the heart as the "seat of emotion," the place where "our inmost thoughts and feelings" reside. The heart is also seen as "the vital or most essential part; the real meaning; the core."

We have always accorded the heart a special place in our world, almost as if we have an innate sense of its complex importance. We use phrases such as "to set one's heart on" and "with all one's heart" on a daily basis. While we have apparently always had an intuitive awareness of the key role of the heart in our emotional wellbeing, scientists may have tended to dispute the validity or empirical value of these idioms and have therefore discounted such folksy wisdom.

It is fascinating that we have traditionally viewed the heart in two ways, both as a physical organ and, figuratively, as vital and involved with emotion--because recent scientific research has yielded some provocative findings that show a basis for such a wedding of viewpoints.

Last summer I was fortunate enough to attend the annual IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences) conference, where I was introduced to the work of the Institute of HeartMath (IHM) in California. Aside from research into phantom DNA and subtle energy (they've also invented an instrument that measures subtle energy), they have done extensive research into the heart, which sheds light on the subject of heart-centeredness. I'll share some of their research here. Should you want more detail, you can visit their web site at http://www.heartmath.org and read the research for yourself.

The IHM's research points out that the heart is the largest wave generator in the body, with an electrical field that has been detected and measured five feet away from the body. The waves the heart generates (as measured by an EKG) can actually entrain the brain's waves (as measured by an EEG). Entrainment involves synchronizing two wave or energy systems. In a very wholistic way, the heart's waves can actually entrain our whole physical system (brain, immune system, etc.). Writes Joseph Sundram of the IHM, "The heart generates an electrical information field that not only permeates every cell in the body, including the cells of the brain, but also radiates out into space." In addition, one person's heart waves can affect another person's brain-wave patterns!

There is also an intelligence and consciousness in the heart. Writes Doc Lew Childre of the IHM, the "heart has unusual perceptual and intuitive information-processing capabilities ... and has its own frequency range of intelligence that is not controlled by the brain or the autonomic nervous system. The heart is autorhythmic, which means that it beats on its own without requiring input from the brain or nervous system." The heart and brain communicate with each other via nerves and hormones, and the heart's communication to the brain "directly affects perception, reaction speeds, balance, intuition, and decision-making ability." The "feeling and emotional perceptions of the heart," when communicated to the brain, trigger "chemical changes in neurotransmitters and hormones throughout the body."

Simplified, this research indicates that the heart affects our consciousness to such an extent that, in order truly to understand anything, we need to have our hearts open while we are thinking. Thinking with the mind alone (extreme intellectualism), or divorcing the heart while in the act of cogitation, leads to sterile thoughts devoid of true understanding.

The heart also impacts the health of the immune system, hormonal balance (including the production of DHEA), thinking ability and creativity, DNA, entrainment, and healthy cell growth--and can even inhibit the growth of tumor cells!

What makes the difference in whether the heart's effects are positive or negative? Importantly, it is the type of emotions we have that affect our heart function--and how, in turn, this entrains our whole physical system. Dan Winter, a psychophysiologist, has mapped emotions in the heart. Twice he has spoken at SFF (Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship) meetings, and I was serendipitously fortunate enough to hear him both times. He has shown how coherent emotions--ones, such as love and appreciation, that create wave patterns in phase with each other--affect the braiding (patterning) of DNA.

Similarly, the IHM has researched how coherent emotions affect the heart and health. Coherent emotions produce a heart-wave pattern that is smooth and symmetrical; noncoherent emotions (anger, frustration, resentment, caustic humor, etc.), by contrast, produce a jagged wave pattern. Coherent emotions produce heart rate variability, vital for life and health, whereas negative emotions do not. Noncoherent, or negative, emotions close the heart down and cause constriction.

In addition to the way they feel, negative emotions are also potentially accompanied by the following ill effects: suppression of the immune system; hormonal imbalance; inability to think clearly; cardiovascular strain; a tendency to negatively impact others; tumor growth; and a negative impact on DNA. Indeed, recalling an angry memory for just five minutes can suppress the immune system for up to five hours. (On the other hand, let it be noted, suppressing anger can also have ill health effects.)

It is through feeling--not thinking about, but really feeling--coherent emotions that we optimize health, reduce stress, promote longevity, optimize our thinking and creative faculties, access intuitive intelligence, gain true understanding, entrain our physical system (for wholeness), experience a healthy flow of energy, and positively affect others. And if this weren't enough, again to cite Doc Lew Childre, IHM research further indicates that "the quantum electrical field of the heart is where love, or Spirit, enters the human system ... where Spirit meets matter."

So how do we start to feel coherent emotions more in our stressful contemporary lives?

At present, there are two techniques I am aware of that can help. One is the "Freeze Frame" technique devised by IHM (and delineated in the book Freeze Frame by Doc Lew Childre), which incorporates recognizing the stressful feeling by becoming consciously aware of it (conscious living), shifting your focus to your heart for ten seconds, recalling a "positive, fun feeling" and re-experiencing it, asking your heart what would be a more efficient response to the stressful situation, listening to your heart's answer, and then writing down your response. (Please note that this is a bare outline of the technique and does not do it full justice. IHM conducts workshops in Freeze Frame.)

The second technique is called The Natural Process. It, too, is a meditative method--but contains more elements of what I would call spirituality. Information on The Natural Process technique was received by Margaret Keen in a near-death experience (NDE) she had in 1978. She was told in her NDE not to release the technique until 1993. I was fortunate enough to learn it in 1994.

The Natural Process simulates a near-death experience through which one experiences love, peace, knowing, light, perfection, and oneness. It is truly a method that enables one to move towards heart-centeredness (and heart-openness) in a positive way, facilitating the feeling of coherent emotions and the resultant positive benefits in one's body. One can receive transformative and lasting effects from The Natural Process as well.

I'm confident, as time goes on, that we'll see more techniques facilitating the opening of our heart and allowing us to move forward toward wholeness. What an exciting time we're living in, in which science continues to validate many of the world's venerable spiritual teachings!

The next time someone complains that despite all their best efforts, they haven't been able to make the highly publicized Law of Attraction work, tell them to count their lucky stars. The naive misuse of powerful cosmic tools to acquire fame, fortune and other creature comforts can easily have ruinous consequences. In the mystery schools of old, a great deal was demanded of initiates before such potent teachings were revealed.

Yet there are many among us who eagerly assume the role of pied piper, leading the eager masses astray--as long as there's sufficient personal payback in the form of money, fame, or control. To many in the metaphysical community, the allure of instant gratification promised by the latest book, video, channeling or guru is little more than a cleverly veiled trap obfuscated by new-age mumbo-jumbo to ensnare the innocent and unwary. Give me your money and your soul and I will give you the keys to the Kingdom in return.

That is why I was somewhat conflicted when I agreed to interview bestselling author James Twyman to learn more about the story behind the making of his recently released movie, The Moses Code (http://www.themosescode.com). The promotional email I received opened with a disheartening teaser: "Is it possible that nearly 3,500 years ago Moses was given the secret for attracting everything you've ever desired?" In stark contrast, the release ended with a compelling message that suggested that James might be leading us in another direction altogether: "You're here to use the power of Divinity itself to create a world based on the laws of compassion and peace. That is the task that lies before us."

It was clear this would be an interesting journey of discovery. Will the real James turn out to be the peace troubadour that has captivated millions from Northern Ireland, South Africa and the Middle East to the United Nations and the Pentagon, or did he have a hidden agenda?

We were only a few minutes into our conversation when we addressed his views on The Secret, the recently released movie that has taken the world by storm. "I felt they (the producers of The Secret) were missing the deeper teaching; that's why I decided that another movie had to be made to continue this discussion and take it much deeper."

James then made a simple declaration that made his stance on the matter crystal clear: "I consider The Secret--the Law of Attraction' to be very dangerous. It entices people to look at the subject of personal power from a narrow and shallow point of view, encouraging them to believe that their lives would be enriched by getting things they [don't] have. It enslaves people to materialism and greed. The real message that leads to personal empowerment lies in the opposite direction. It's not about what can I get, but what can I give?"

The astonishing breakthrough that culminated in the production of The Moses Code arose when James received a sudden inspiration that allowed him to view the enigmatic words spoken by God to Moses in Exodus 3:14, "I am that I am," in a new light. "I somehow realized that the 'I am that I am' was incomplete as a simple declarative. Inserting a comma gave it a far greater depth of meaning: 'I am THAT, I am.' I consider this to be the essence of the Moses code: seeking the oneness."

Neale Donald Walsh's further development of this concept in the film is profound. He recounts a time when he attended a workshop and the facilitator asked each of the participants to practice a simple exercise that would allow them to better understand the oneness of creation. For the next few hours they were instructed to repeat the phrase, "I am that," to every object they noticed. If they saw a tree, dog, flower, cloud, or person, they were to become totally present with it and project the realization that were one with that tree, dog, flower, cloud, or person.

I invite you to try it. Within a surprisingly short time, your heart might reveal the essential meaning of God's message to Moses, that in all the infinite creation, there is only the oneness. Each time you find yourself in another manifestation within that creation, you find God. The implication of such a discovery will not only change you, it will change the world.

When God declared, "I am THAT, I am," He put us all on notice that there was nothing within the creation outside of the All That Is. James further explained, "It was through Moses' harnessing the power of the name of God that many of the greatest miracles of the Bible were created. Even to this very day in certain cultures, speaking His name aloud is punishable by death. The reason for this stricture, imposed by the various priesthoods over the millennia, is to inhibit people from identifying themselves as one with God. Doing so would make them too powerful and more difficult to control."

Grasping the fullness of this principle releases you from the yoke of dogmatic sovereignty. Viewed through this more pervasive understanding, many of the passages in holy texts take on new and far deeper meaning. During the course of our conversation, James cited several examples of when Jesus invoked the Moses code in the Bible:

1. Jesus said unto them (the scribes and Pharisees who were seeking to tempt and accuse him), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. --John 8:58

2. "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." --John 12:46

3. "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." --John 14:6

James stressed that the true message of the Bible expressed by the "I am that" was meant to be inclusive, not exclusive. We are being instructed to seek God directly, bypassing those who would wish us to believe we need intermediaries to reach out to the heavens. We are, as Jesus points out, extremely powerful beings in our own right: "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12)

In closing, James affirmed, "I believe that today, more than ever before, it's important to embrace that power within ourselves. The purpose of the Moses code is for us to realize that we can be the embodiment of God here in our own lives and that we can use the power of that embodiment to change the world. I suggest that chanting the name of God (I am that ... I am that ... I am that) may well be one of the most important steps for humanity to take today. In so doing we will come to realize we do have the power to change the world.

"I would like for humanity to realize we are all interconnected and that all actions we perform for others we actually receive ourselves. At this critical time in human history it is important for all of us (nations, groups, and individuals) to realize that we are interdependent and that we need one another to survive."

His words were music to my ears. The choice confronting each of us during this time of unprecedented uncertainty is simple: Am I here to serve myself or to serve others? If I am given the power of manifestation, how will I use it? The option you ultimately choose is far more consequential than you might imagine.

Before attempting to apply the powerful Law of Attraction for personal benefit, I strongly counsel you to view The Moses Code. There is much in its message that needs careful consideration and the information it provides, through such celebrated personalities as Neale Donald Walsh, Gregg Braden, Iyanla Van Zant and others, is an important rebuttal to the temptation of bartering your true birthright for a few trinkets that only have value within the temporal illusion.
